Christmas Update
3 months ago - 20th Dec 2024
Hello everyone,
Firstly, thank you all for your patience over the past few months while we have been closed (for all but volunteer sessions). We want you to know that behind the scenes we have been working hard to re open the Workshop as soon as possible.
We have appointed Toni Mason as Operations Manager to take care of the administrative functions at WCW. Toni has had her first few days with us and we look forward to working together as Wanaka Community Workshop moves into 2025. Toni lives at Lake Hawea and is an active member of a number of community groups in Wanaka.
As an organisation we have a legal and a moral obligation to all users of the workshop to provide a safe workspace. With professional assistance we have carried out a full Health and Safety review and just this week have completed our H & S Management Plan. We now need to implement this, which is what we will be figuring out over the next few weeks with a goal to be able to re-open in some capacity by the end of January. We will share details of this with you in January.
We are aware that the Workshop closure has inconvenienced a number of you and as a gesture of good will we are going to extend the current membership, for all 2024 paid members, through until the end of March, so please DO NOT PAY A MEMBERSHIP FEE at this time.
All of us at the Wanaka Community Workshop are looking forward to an exciting 2025 and will be in touch with you soon with details of opening times, classes and workshops. If you have any queries please email Toni at workshop@wcw.org.nz.
We will be having a short break over the next couple of weeks, but in the meantime, we wish you all safe and happy holidays.
Merry Christmas, Meri Kirihimete and a wonderful New Year,
Regards
Toni, Gwilym, Ben and Alan
