We’re hiring! November update.
4 months ago - 5th Nov 2024
Kia ora,
Spring greetings from the Wānaka Community Workshop. We’ve got some exciting news including a paid job opportunity and an update on our Health & Safety procedures.
Where we’ve come from…
Four years ago, Wānaka Community Workshop began with an empty shed and an ad in the Messenger. Word got around - our first volunteers came to help, local businesses donated surplus materials, our sponsors provided new tools, and we had our first paid job making rodent traps.
Four years later, we have a 300 sq/tm workshop packed with machinery from table saws to sewing machines, a regular roster of volunteers churning out amazing items for other trusts and organisations in the Upper Clutha district, and a growing community of members and supporters.
Where we’re going…
After a rapid growth phase, in August we closed the doors to individual members using the time to review, prune and set up systems to ensure we can come back stronger.
We have worked with Jess Griffin from Safety Kept Simple to produce Machinery Training and Competency checklists, Machinery Safety Guidelines and Hazard Registers, and have made some changes to how the workshop operates.
We look forward to welcoming current and new members at the Workshop soon.
